Below are the required steps for application and consideration for the Electrical Apprenticeship Program.
Each step must be completed before moving to the next step.
Step 1: Application
Currently, applications can be obtained in person at Gainesville Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee D/B/A, Electrical Training Alliance of Gainesville or by clicking on the link below to download and print a copy of the application. Applications should be submitted in person (2420 NE 17th Terrace, Gainesville, FL 32609) or via US Mail (PO BOX 5428, Gainesville, FL 32627) along with all the required documentation listed below. Applications CANNOT be submitted online. The following documents are required to complete the application process and again should be brought in with you when you visit our office or when you mail in with your application.
Each applicant must complete an application form, accurately responding to all questions and items, including statements indicating that they are:
• physically and mentally able to safely perform or learn to safely perform essential functions of the job either with or without reasonable accommodation.
• able to get to and from work at job sites anywhere within the geographical area that this apprenticeship program covers.
• able and willing to attend all related classroom training as required to complete their apprenticeship.
• able to climb and work from ladders, poles and towers of various heights.
• able to crawl and work in confined spaces such as attics, manholes and crawlspaces.
• able to read, hear and understand instructions and warnings.

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Social Security Card
• Birth Certificate
• High School Diploma or GED, or have a two-year Associates Degree or higher.
• Official Sealed Transcripts (high school, college or GED) showing one (1) full credit of Algebra.
• Supplemental Information Form (Included with the Apprenticeship Application)
• Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Disclosure (Included with the Apprenticeship Application)
Additional Information (if applicable)
• Proof of Military Experience (DD214), if you are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for prior electrical experience
• Vocational Transcripts
• Letter of Electrical Experience
• Referral Letters
Please be advised there is a $25.00 non-refundable processing fee due at the time of application.
Step 2: Aptitude Test
Once your application is reviewed, you will be scheduled to take the Electrical Training Alliance Aptitude Test. This test covers both Math and Reading Comprehension. A qualifying score must be attained in order to qualify for the program and the next step, your interview.

Electrical Prep - At cost classes to prepare for the Apprenticeship.
Step 3: Interview
All qualified applicants are then afforded an oral interview and scored by the program's committee members. Committee interviews take place once a year (typically in June), depending on the volume of applicants to be interviewed. Based on interview performance, all applicants are placed on a ranking list. Applicants are then accepted into Apprenticeship programs based on their placement on the ranking list.
Step 4: Accepted Applicants
Only those applicants accepted into the Apprenticeship program will receive a letter from the Gainesville Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) (D/B/A Electrical Training Alliance of Gainesville) informing them of the decision. All applicants not selected will remain on the ranking list for possible selection into the program for two years before needing to re-apply.
